Catherine Wiles (She/Her)

My name is Catherine Wiles, and I’m a master’s student studying Environment, Culture & Communication at the Dumfries campus. As a journalism grad, I don’t consider myself a leader so much as a communicator–but that’s exactly why I’m running. The School of Social & Environmental Sustainability is housed entirely at a satellite campus, which, without representation, makes our unique needs easy to overlook. My goal is to facilitate communication between our students and the Glasgow campus administration and to improve conditions for all students by supporting social justice for all, accessibility, and sustainability. I will also work with the Council to ensure that UofG is a good steward of student funds and a good neighbor to communities across its campuses and beyond.
Most importantly, I want to represent the concerns of students on our campus as comprehensively as possible. Students are encouraged to contact me with their concerns, and I will dedicate time prior to each Council meeting to speak with students and staff alike. In addition to bringing that information with me to each meeting, I intend to keep students informed in turn by providing regular updates on the workings of the Council. Thank you for your support.
