I want to be your Business School Representative because communication can improve, and I will work to make that happen. Students sometimes miss important announcements: internship sessions can be overlooked when emails go to spam, deadline extensions may appear on one platform, and feedback delays can go unexplained. I will help close these gaps and ensure student voices matter.
I will send monthly updates about assessments, opportunities and events, and hold open forums where students can raise questions. I will provide accessible ways to contribute through anonymous feedback forms, surveys and engagement with societies and student groups. I will share clear summaries after meetings, including what action is possible, what cannot be changed and why.
I will create more career opportunities by inviting graduates and professionals to discuss career journeys, CVs, interviews and networking. I will organise practical workshops and speed-networking events, using student suggestions to shape speakers and topics. Where possible, sessions will run at different times and include online options.
I will set clear goals, track progress and respond to feedback within one week. Vote for me if you want an approachable representative who will listen, keep you informed and turn feedback into practical action.

I’m Carol Emmanuel Yunior Rikin, studying International Management and Design Innovation through the ITB–University of Glasgow double degree programme. I’m running for Business School Representative because everyday frustrations deserve attention.
Since arriving, I’ve faced enrolment uncertainty, timetable clashes, and confusion about whom to contact. These things matter when you’re trying to settle in and keep up with classes.
My priorities are simple:
Less chasing, clearer answers. I’ll work with class representatives and staff to address recurring problems with timetables, course information, and learning resources.
Feedback with a follow-up. When you raise a concern, you deserve to know what happens next. I’ll share updates on progress and keep pushing unresolved issues.
More reasons to know each other. I’ll support opportunities to connect across programmes, exchange practical advice, and build friendships beyond group assignments.
I bring an international perspective, curiosity, and a practical approach to solving problems. I’ll listen carefully, ask questions, and follow through.

Mohammad Salman (He/Him)

I am Mohammad Salman, an MBA candidate, running to be your next Business School Representative on the SRC Council. With nine years of hands-on experience in IT, digital transformation, and management, I have spent my career building practical systems to solve grassroots problems. I want to bring this exact problem-solving mindset to the Adam Smith Business School.
If elected, I will focus on three actionable initiatives:
- Centralized Digital Support Hub: I will leverage my technical background to advocate for an internal platform where students can seamlessly raise and track issues—whether academic or personal—ensuring no concern slips through the cracks.
- Targeted Wellbeing & Integration: I will push for integrated support systems tailored to managing academic stress and helping international students comfortably settle into Glasgow.
- Structured Cross-Cohort Networking: Our senior cohorts hold immense real-world expertise. I will establish structured networking channels bridging UG, MSc, and MBA students to unlock this shared potential for everyone.

Cici Shen (She/Her)
I’m Qianyu Shen, a fourth-year Business and Management student and an international student, standing to be your Business School Representative.
Across the Business School, students face different forms of assessment, from exams and essays to group presentations and reports. Exam pressure and unclear expectations can be difficult to navigate; in group work, free riding can leave others carrying too much. Whatever the assessment, students deserve clear guidance and a fair way to raise concerns.
If elected, I will work with Class Representatives across subjects to bring specific, recurring issues to the relevant meetings. I will raise concerns about exam preparation and assessment guidance, seek clearer procedures for group contributions and disputes, and report back on the responses and what remains unresolved.
As an international student, I also want classrooms and groups where people from different backgrounds feel able to participate. I will listen to perspectives that may be missed and bring them into these conversations.
The SRC is an independent student representative body. I want to use that voice to make academic concerns heard, followed up and answered.
Defne Yayla (She/Her)
Hello! I’m Defne Yayla (she/her) a third-year economics student, and I am running to be your Business School Representative. As a former class representative, I know just how valuable the student voice is in enhancing the student experience.
If elected, I will:
- Establish a clear feedback loop: I plan to create a welcoming environment where you can speak with me about any Business School related issues or ideas. I will then make sure to close the feedback loop by keeping you informed of any changes/improvements in that regard.
- Highlight the support systems available for students: From career guidance to wellbeing support, I want to make the support available in the Business School more accessible and inclusive for all, as this is a common challenge students face.
- Provide more support for class representatives: With my network within the Business School, I plan to use the Business School Representative role as a bridge between elected class reps and the school, to ensure your course feedback is heard and valued.
