The SRC provides some methods of helping an affiliated club or society promote themselves and their activities. This includes collaborating with clubs on SRC campaigns and getting involved with the UofG Welcome.

The SRC provides some methods of helping an affiliated club or society promote themselves and their activities.

SRC WEBSITE

Our website provides each affiliated club with a page where they can advertise what they do. To make the most of this facility, clubs should email a picture and blurb of around 250 words to clubsandsocs@src.gla.ac.uk. Please make sure the email is sent from a currently listed Office Bearer of your club/society.

Images should have a ratio of 2.45 : 1 and minimum resolution of 736 x 300 pixels. Images with different ratios will be cropped to fit.

SCREENS ON CAMPUS

Clubs can promote their events by sending electronic versions of their posters to clubsandsocs@src.gla.ac.uk. These can be displayed on the SRC’s screen in the Welcome Point.

Posters should be in an image format such as JPEG or PNG and should ideally be in landscape orientation.

You can also contact Campus Screens at campusscreens@glasgow.ac.uk, and ask them to upload your image. Please note the SRC does not have control over Campus Screens’ content, and they may upload at their discretion.

The University Library is in control of the digital signage in the Library and the James McCune Smith Learning Hub, including the large video walls. If your club/society has content it wishes to display, please ensure it meets the digital signage requirements (everything in the JMSLH need to be 4K; please see gla.ac.uk/it/digitalsignage for details on general digital signage requirements) and email is-comms@glasgow.ac.uk to arrange this.

The Curved Wall on Level 3 of the Library is also available for displays so if your club/society wishes to put up a display on the wall, please email is-comms@glasgow.ac.uk

STALLS AND BAKE SALES ON CAMPUS

If an affiliated club/society wishes to hold a bake sale on campus, please see our information page here *

*Please note that in light of new advice from Health Protection Scotland regarding the ongoing situation to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the University has confirmed that they will not be taking any stall or bake sale bookings from clubs and societies during semester one and semester two of the 2020/21 academic year.

VOLUNTEERING, CLUBS & SOCIETIES AWARDS

GUSRC hosts the annual Volunteering, Clubs and Societies (VCS) Awards to celebrate the success, achievements, fantastic events, diverse range of activities and dedication of SRC-affiliated clubs and societies, and individuals. From 2016/17 onwards, we have been working in partnership with the University to increase the prominence and visibility of these awards, hosting them in the Kelvin Gallery with allocation of funding from the University.

Nominations will open early in the second semester, so look out for an email notification to ensure you get to take part. Shortlisted nominees will be invited to take part in the ceremony in mid-February, where winners will receive a small cash prize, award and certificate.

VCS AWARDS CATEGORIES (subject to change, keep an eye on our website)

  • New Club or Society Award
  • Outstanding Contribution to a Club or Society
  • Fundraising Award
  • Club or Society of the Year
  • Best Media Activity of the Year
  • Student Media Contributor of the Year
  • Outstanding Contribution to Volunteering

A QUICK NOTE ON HOSTING CLUB/SOCIETY EVENTS

Holding events is an effective way of promoting your club/society. If you are organising an event, you can now have your events displayed on your SRC Club page. If you have attended our Website and Finance training, you will be given access to create club events on your website page, and you just need to email events@src.gla.ac.uk with event ticket details which we can set up for you so you can sell free or paid tickets. If you have yet to attend Website and Finance training, please email events@src.gla.ac.uk with your event details and we can advertise this for you. If you have any queries regarding hosting club/society events, please email events@src.gla.ac.uk.
