In October in the UK we recognise and celebrate Black History Month.
Following the global spread of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, and informed by the many civil rights movements that came before it, celebrating Black History Month is more important than ever.
The month is an opportunity to keep up the momentum to continue the fight for change in our society, and at the same time heighten public awareness of the massive impact of Black people and Black voices on the history of our country.
Throughout October, the SRC will be working with clubs, societies and the University to bring you a number of exciting events and activities, both on-campus and online.
The event list can be found below. More events will be added as the month goes on so keep checking the site for updates!
Get Involved
Throughout the month we want to be broadcasting the lived experiences of our Black students. We’re planning to put out short videos from students who tell us what Black History Month means to them. If you’d like to be involved please get in touch with our Vice President Student Support, Hailie Pentleton, by emailing vp-support@src.gla.ac.uk
