ACT (Academic Collective Theatre) is a space for those who have a passion for theatre and education. Be it writing, reading, experiencing, or discussing theatre – ACT is the society that does it all.

Established in 2022, the Academic Collective Theatre (ACT) is a new theatre society at the University of Glasgow. Our focus in ACT is on your personal and professional academic development - whether you study theatre at Glasgow or not, we have something for writers, researchers, practitioners, and hobbyists alike!

The main fruit of our labour is the bi-annual ACT Journal which showcases academic essays written by students here at UofG and interviews conducted with professionals within the theatre sphere. Academic writing not for you? Well, you'll be pleased to know we also run a more casual side of ACT on our ACTsite! Online you'll find reviews of the finest plays in Glasgow, our blog ACTfeed highlights prestigious(!) opinions of our members, and just for you, we have collated a regularly updated list of what's on in Glasgow alongside professional development opportunities handpicked by our team. What's not to love?

More of a social butterfly than a bookworm? Of course, we have you covered! We hope to run monthly workshops and socials for you all to keep in touch and continue to grow - think writers' rooms, theatre screenings, dramaturgy workshops... AND MORE!

Think ACT sounds like the place for you? We'd love to hear from you! Please get in touch with us on our contact page and help us make academia fun again - we can't wait to meet you!
