It will allow members to develop skills such as leadership, first aid and navigation.
Movement is over rough and varied terrain, and sometimes extreme conditions. Open to those used to running over complex terrain and comparative novices; ability or speed is not an issue!
We will do training with other Scottish university orienteering clubs as well as have overnight camps and transport to competitions. It will be social and competitive, for all.
We will potentially branch into ski/ mountain bike orienteering as well as coaching/ mapping for local schools.
We have a full training structure for next year planned; and regular meets. This includes Kelvingrove, Pollock, Glennifer Braes, Kilpartick hills, campsie fells, loch Lomond, croy hill, balloch, garelochead, conic hill, Greenock, stirling, Arran, Edinburgh, Queens park, pitlochry, mugdock, and the Cairngorms.
Training includes orienteering , gym / circuit / hill sessions and proper off road running.
We will enter events such as Scottish University Champs , BUCS and Scottish 6 days.
Fun outdoor active socials , for all.
