Our Let’s Talk Consent & Bystander Intervention training programme is a two-hour, student-led workshop, developed in collaboration with our GBV Counsellor.

Let’s Talk forms part of our aim to build a community of Gender Equality Champions, by engaging students in open discussions around consent, healthy relationships, and how to respond to disclosures.

Our workshops are free for all University of Glasgow students to attend. Upon successful completion of our Let’s Talk workshop, you will receive a certificate signed by the University’s Vice-Principal and Gender Equality Champion.

The workshop is structured as follows:

Section 1

Sexual Consent

  • Societal messages around sex
  • Reflecting on how these messages impact our understanding of consent and healthy relationships

Section 2

What is Consent?

  • The meaning of consent
  • Legal definition of consent
  • Group exercise exploring how we communicate consent (verbally and non-verbally)
  • What does good consent look like?

Section 3

Scenarios of Potential Consent Violations

  • 'Considering Consent' activity, exploring scenarios of potential consent violations

Section 4

Bystander Intervention

  • What makes us bystanders?
  • How can we safely and effectively intervene if we see someone at risk of sexual violence?
  • Group exercise, using previous scenarious to understand how to intervene as a bystander
