Black History Month is about celebrating, empowering and standing together with our Black community at the University of Glasgow and beyond.
This year’s theme, Honouring Our Communities, recognises the communities that shape, support and sustain us. It is a chance to honour Black history while spotlighting the voices, experiences and contributions shaping our future.
Throughout October, the SRC will work with students, clubs, societies and University partners to host a programme of events and activities. From workshops and discussions to food, music, film and social events, we want to create spaces where our community can come together to connect, learn and celebrate.
Black History Month isn’t just about looking back. It’s also about looking forward, challenging inequality and amplifying Black voices on campus and in wider society. We encourage all students to take part, whether by joining an event, supporting our student communities or taking the opportunity to learn more.
