Yaji Ye

Hi! My name is Yajie Ye (she/her). I am currently a postgraduate research student in Music, studying choral and orchestral conducting.

I have directed a number of music groups in the UK, ranging from community choirs to professional ensembles. I consider myself a responsive and disciplined person, and a keen leader ready to help Arts students. For instance, when Covid-19 first hit the UK, I organised several virtual joint concerts between my choir (Bella Cantas) and RWCMD to create performance opportunities for my fellow musicians. Additionally, I actively seek advice from others to deal with challenges effectively. In this regard, I will facilitate the exchange of thoughts between the School of Culture and Creative Arts and other committees, such as College Convenors and Class Representatives.

If elected, I will:

  • Be an empathetic listener who is always here for you.
  • Seek more academic and practical opportunities for students in the School of Culture and Creative Arts, for example, by encouraging cooperation between school disciplines.
  • Raise awareness of the mental health that we might experience as students in a post-pandemic world.
  • Facilitate communications between students and the school.
  • Open to different cultures, traditions and philosophies and use that diversity constructively.
