Batseba Asmelash

Hello! I am Batseba (she/her), a 2nd year Neuroscience student, running to be your next Mental Health Equality Officer!

This topic is close to my heart (and mind!) as I personally know its impact and understand the struggles. I am passionate about providing support, having experience being there for people to open up and working with a wellbeing charity.

Within this role, I will ensure students’ voices are heard, advocate for your needs, and push for meaningful change.

I plan to:

  • Provide a regular safe space, with refreshments and a place to be you, where anybody can go and chat with others. Socialising with others regularly is often overlooked, but vital for wellbeing!
  • Collaborate with Welfare & Equal Opportunity Officers both within the SRC and societies, improving support, as mental health links with other life aspects.
  • Share wellbeing quick tips straight to you in various formats, especially during tense exam seasons.
  • Personal assistance in directing and accessing the right support service, supporting applications where appropriate.

Although mental health is complex, I am committed to doing my best as Mental Health Equality Officer ensuring you have what is needed for your university experience.

Thanks for your consideration.
