Ben Jones

I’m Ben, a 3rd year physics student. If elected, I would use my extensive experience in representative/liaison roles and my passion for education to increase opportunities for communication between class representatives and our peers, starting genuine dialogues rather than heavily relying on online surveys for feedback - which are largely ignored and non-constructive.

Greater interaction is particularly important for non-honours students as many don’t feel comfortable talking to teaching staff, creating a culture of internalisation and silently struggling students. As a tutor, I know how badly students’ confidence can be affected when they feel academically isolated.

I would also set up more frequent discussions between representatives from different schools in the college, comparing educational practices and experiences to find solutions to school-wide problems together. We are a community and should have more opportunities to collaborate like one.

I believe with more confident, informed class representatives we can better discuss and address student issues with teaching staff across the college, which is beneficial for students and staff alike.

I hope my drive and enthusiasm to work with you all and improve our student experience is clear, and that if elected I will give my all to this role. Thank you.

Max Thomson

Hi there! I’m Max, a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student running to become your next Undergraduate Convener for the College of Science & Engineering.

I would love the opportunity to make a difference within our college, and tackle the issues which are affecting all of us at University. I am committed to ensuring that students from every school within the college have the best possible experience, and that all of you are acknowledged, respected and treated equally by the University. Your voices deserve to be heard.

Having spent last year on council as a General Representative, I am familiar with the setting, and have connections to Sabbatical Officers as well as School Representatives within my college. This means I am in a good position to stay well informed on the problems reported to your Class Reps and School Reps, and to relay information to the VP Education.

Though this role presumes a focus on dealing with academic issues, I would like to also make it clear that the inclusivity and welfare of students is just as important to me, and I will make myself available to help in any way I can.

Thank you for reading, VOTE MAX!

Bartosz Zmuda

Hi everyone!

I’m Bartosz, though you can also call me Bartek, a third-year Computing Science student, and I’m running to be your College Convenor. Last year, I volunteered as a class representative, and I’m committed to continuing that work, because your voices matter. Your concerns, solutions, and feedback deserve to be heard, and I want to make sure they reach the right members of the faculty.

The university thrives on active, passionate, and effective communication between students and staff. As your class rep, I consistently acted as the link between you and the Computing department, providing answers to you and standing up for your ideas while delivering them to staff. I worked proactively, achieving real results, such as changes in lab schedules, deadline adjustments, and early access to past papers, just to name a few.

Being College Convenor would allow me to continue effecting change for as many of you as possible, ensuring your time at university is the best it can be. I will continue to collaborate with class and school reps and the SRC, ensuring your concerns drive the change you want to see. My role is not to push my own opinions but to elevate yours.

Thanks!
