Radu Chirila

My name is Radu Chirila and I am a final year PhD student in the SOCIAL AI CDT. I am excited to announce my candidacy for the role of PG College Convenor for the College of Science and Engineering. My aim is to ensure that every postgraduate student and researcher across the University will get a fair and inclusive work environment.

As the PG College Convenor,  I plan to:

  • work closely with key decision makers in the College of Science and Engineering to ensure better communication between staff and students and ensure that transparency of decisions  is maintained;
  • combat the unequal allocation of laboratory space between different research groups and work with the College management team on improving access to the equipment and facilities required for your research;
  • actively promote diversity and inclusion throughout the College of Science and Engineering.

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to representing your views for a better research culture in the University!

Vote Radu Chirila for PG College Convenor (Science and Engineering).

Nicholas Smoliak

Hey, I'm Nick!  I'm currently doing my masters in Nuclear and Environmental Physics and would love to represent you as Post-grad Convenor for Sciences and Engineering.

I'd like to outline a few reasons why you should vote for me for this position:

  1. Before joining onto this course, I was a secondary school science teacher. With this experience, I will be able to have rich, well-articulated dialogue and ensure the postgrad community is given the best environment and learning experience possible.
  2. I am a born and bred Canadian, and though I have lived in the UK for more than four years I know how challenging it can be to move to a new and unfamiliar place. I plan to represent both our international and domestic students enthusiastically.
  3. In a post-covid learning environment, I would like to foster a sense of community and togetherness both inside and outside the lecture theatre.  I will be an accessible, present and engaged representative for our 1000+ strong community, and someone you will be able to come to at any time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. See you soon!

Bindya Srinivas

I, Bindya, present my manifesto for the position of PG Convenor in the College of Science and Engineering. With a commitment to enhancing the academic and overall experience of postgraduate students, I would like to advocate for student welfare by serving as a strong voice for postgraduate students, addressing their concerns and working towards solutions, including improved facilities, mental health support, and financial assistance.

I will actively promote diversity, inclusivity, and a safe environment for all students, irrespective of their backgrounds, ensuring equal opportunities and representation.

Sustainability Initiatives such as collaborating with students and faculty to introduce sustainable practices within the college, such as eco-friendly research projects and awareness campaigns is essential. To organize regular networking events, seminars, and industry interactions to help students establish valuable connections and explore career prospects.

I will maintain transparent communication channels, providing regular updates and seeking feedback to address concerns promptly.

I am dedicated to working tirelessly to enhance the postgraduate experience at our university. Together, we can create an environment that empowers students and fosters growth, innovation, and inclusivity. Your vote for me is a vote for a brighter future for all postgraduates in our college. Thank you for your trust and support.
