Abheer Kukreja

Manifesto.

TO GIVE BACK TO SOCIETY AND COMMUNITY!!

Hi, this is Abheer Kukreja, currently a first year  student at the UOFG studying IR. I’m very a talkative and a philosophical induced person. Growing up in a close knitted family and the typical Indian background, I can assure you that my love for the community is more enthusiastic than ever. I firmly consider myself a very accessible and open person; and you’d know that too if you ever talk to me. So this time; election and this nomination? It’s for you, and you and for your needs ESPECIALLY.

  1. Raising IT and tech-oriented solutions for the student community to access the lectures. (Including syncing and subtitles.)
  2. More accessible in guide with enrollment at the premises and online.
  3. Necessary orientations for the incoming first year student to prevent sexual assaults and racism.
  4.     More safety and anonymous helpline numbers for the nuisances at the Uni Student accommodations.
  5. Lobbying to prevent accommodation crises and roadmapping ties and quantitative guidances for the landlords.
  6. More festival orientated events at the premises and local hubs.
  7. More invitees to prominent guests, speakers, world leaders and scientists at the university across the courses.

Nathan O'Brien

My name is Nathan O’Brien (he/they). I’m a med student running for 1st Year Rep.

I have some experienced as in my final year of school I sat on the first ever student board in my academy, implementing easy and discrete access suicide prevention and counselling and linking LGBTQ+ students to the school.

I hope to cover 3 main points that I am invested in and will change:

Many first years have experienced lack of communication from the University.

Resulting in late timetables and last-minute timetable alterations, personally having 2 timetable updates in 1 week. School communication with incoming first years needs improvement.

Another housing crisis in Glasgow.

Leaving students from all years without somewhere to stay and some being advised to drop-out, the University must cap student numbers, as campaigned for last year.

Cost of Living crisis has led to increased numbers of students turning to sex work and ‘survival sex’.

Funding for the crisis and support for workers is needed, campaigns for de-stigmatization, alongside funding for the charity SUM who give support sex workers give justice for assault victims and recognise sex work as work.

I hope to connect to everyone and make your voices heard,

Thank you!
