Sanad Alamad

Hello, my name is Sanad I am standing for Race Equality Officer because every student deserves to feel safe, respected, and represented, and I am committed to challenging racism in all its forms across our University. If elected, I will work closely with the VP Student Support and actively contribute to relevant University committees to ensure race equality remains a priority in all institutional decisions. I will advocate for stronger anti-racism policies, clearer reporting systems, and more effective support for students who experience discrimination. I will create accessible opportunities for students to share their experiences through listening forums, anonymous channels, and regular drop-ins, ensuring their voices shape real change. I am committed to pushing for better representation across campus, promoting inclusive teaching practices, and supporting initiatives that celebrate cultural identity and diversity. As part of the Welfare and Equal Opportunities team, I will attend all Council meetings and seek positions on committees where I can influence policy and promote equity. My aim is to build a campus where every student feels they belong and have the tools, support, and confidence to thrive. By voting for me, you are voting for meaningful action, accountability, and a safer, more inclusive University community for everyone.
Ebrahim Rezaei

I am standing for Race Equality Officer because I believe every student at Glasgow deserves to feel valued, represented, and supported, regardless of background.
As a medical student, student representative, and society founder, I have seen both the strengths of our diverse community and the barriers that still exist. Many students from minority backgrounds continue to face unequal access to opportunities, lack of representation, and experiences of discrimination that often go unheard.
If elected, I will work to ensure that student voices are central to decision-making. I will actively engage with cultural societies, liberation groups, and academic schools to understand real concerns and turn them into practical action. I will campaign for fairer academic support, inclusive teaching practices, and better reporting and response systems for racism and harassment.
I will also focus on widening participation, mentoring, and leadership opportunities for underrepresented students, helping them to thrive at university and beyond.
Race equality should not be a side issue. It should be embedded in everything we do. I am committed to being a visible, approachable, and determined advocate for change.
