Naomi Gillies (she/they)
Hello my loves! I’m Naomi (they/she), a theatre and sociology student, and I would be honoured to continue to be your LGBTQ+ Officer! Working alongside the SRC for Welcome Week for several years has given me useful insight into how the SRC works, and my experience on the GULGBTQ+ and FemCollab committees has given me first hand experience on what it means to be part of a team. If reelected, I will ensure every voice is heard, representing the interests of the queer student body by:
- Maintaining strong ties with GULGBTQ+ Students Association and building ties with the new Sapphic Society.
- Regularly communicating with LGBTQ+ students to stay informed on current concerns and raising these with LGBTQ+ staff and student associations.
- Continuing to work alongside the Vice President Student Support to organise Trans Day of Remembrance, LGBTQ+ History Month and Trans day of Visibility.
- Approaching intersectional work with the Gender Equality and Race Equality officers to ensure actions and policies towards inclusive representation of the entire LGBTQ+ student community.
- Working alongside the VPSS and Gender Equality Officer to establish a Trans Health and Wellbeing Fund, as seen at the University of Strathclyde.
