My name is Laura (she/her), and I would love to be elected as your Gender Equality Officer! I’ve spent three wonderful years in the SRC both as a School and General Representative, but now I’m seeking your vote for Gender Equality Officer to champion causes such as:
- The implementation of the Emily Test Charter
This year we’ve seen progress made towards the Emily Test but no full commitment, and I know students are eager for our to take this step to help prevent and better handle GBV on campus and in our community.
- Improved visibility and access to free menstrual products
UofG offers free menstrual products to staff and students, but many are currently unaware of this or find accessing the products difficult.
- Preventing discrimination against transgender individuals
Gender equality isn’t just about the women in our community – transgender and gender non-conforming students and staff also face discrimination and deserve to be protected and supported by the University.
My previous experience working on the SRC, amongst student societies, and on the ground of student activist movements has more than prepared me to be your next Gender Equality Officer. #InThompsonWeTrust – vote Laura #1 for Gender Equality Officer!
