Natasha Pooley (she/her)

Hi, I’m Natasha. Your current Gender Equality Officer and hopefully your next VPSA!

My experience:

  • I have been involved with a lot of societies on campus, holding 14 committee roles in my four years at Uni. This has shown me how meaningful societies are to student life, but also has given me first hand experience with issues committees face.
  • I have also been heavily involved with both the Nerd Collab and FemCollab.
  • Having been a member of the SRC Council since October 2024, I understand how the SRC works, what works, and what doesn’t and how to achieve meaningful change
  • I have volunteered at three SRC Welcome Weeks. First as a helper, then a DL and finally as Team Leader in 2025!

I have done a lot in my time here, from making graphics, to helping with the fantastic chaos of RAG to planning a black-tie ball. Planning. With the SRC I have sat on Welfare forum and Student Experience, helping push through sensory rooms on campus, campaign for divestment and establish SRC fidget toy bank.

I want to use the role of VPSA to make sure students and societies thrive at Glasgow. From freshers in their first week being made to feel at home, to supporting committees in creating a community and putting on fabulous events.

If elected, I will:

  • Improve communication with societies regarding stall allocations (Freshers and Refreshers)
  • Campaign for an additional card machine
  • Advocate for room booking access on weekends
  • Bring back free tea and coffee during exams
  • Lobby Estates for better vending machine options in the JMS
  • Demystify the Grant application and approval process

I have loved my time as an SRC Volunteer, but I know there are a lot of ways the SRC can do better. If elected, I would improve communication with societies in general but particularly around Freshers and Refreshers. Societies need time to prepare and organise shifts. They also deserve input on where they are, who they are near, and their accessibility requirements. On Welcome Week, crowd management and congestion has been a big issue in recent years, so I would tackle this making it a much more enjoyable experience.

It is important to listen to students, learn from what doesn’t work well and make everything we do meaningful. Hold event that they want, and provide the support they need to flourish.

I would continue to lobby the University to divest from arms, and push for the University to go even further and fully adopt the Emily Test Charter. Furthermore, I would push to make our campus easier to navigate and more accessible. The current timeline for making our campus accessible is not acceptable, all students deserve equal access now!

Vote Natasha #1 for VPSA!

Lilian Pourfallah

Hi guys! I’m Lilian, and I’m running to be your VP of Student Activities.

I’m a fourth-year Philosophy/Psychology student, and as an international student (California girl!) I intimately understand how difficult it is to adjust to a big life transition like coming to University- that’s why I’m so eager to pave the way for new and improved events and activities across campus to better help immerse people into campus life (and equally importantly, to help people make new friends!).

All students deserve events that best suit their interests and needs, and I hope to be a friendly, approachable, and reliable face on campus - someone that you can come to with questions, concerns, and ideas for future events that help students feel connected and supported.

My Priorities:

  • Welcome Week
    • We’ve all been there- it’s the clubs and societies fair, there are a million taster sessions all around campus, physical posters are everywhere, but they can be hard to keep track of, and most show only one event or QR code. I propose teaming up with some of the smaller societies to create an events calendar for taster sessions- that way, everyone gets the chance to advertise their events in one place.
    • I plan to create a place on campus where everyone can go to escape the Welcome Week frenzy. Whether you’re in between events or just needing somewhere to wait for friends, you deserve a safe and calm spot to hang out!
  • Over the year
    • Welcome Week is one of the most memorable student experiences, but many of our favourite events only come around once a year. I plan on introducing a student event request form- the most popular events can be brought back throughout the year, ensuring that the energy of Welcome Week continues long past September.
    • Our existing cultural clubs and societies are what help make Glasgow such a vibrant place! When cultural events are supported by stronger promotion and cross-society collaboration, attendance outcomes increase dramatically, so one of my goals is to create clearer channels for societies to collaborate on events.
    • With this, I hope to expand into the year with monthly consolidated event calendars, displayed both physically around campus and digitally on screens in common areas, to make it easier for students to stay informed and participate.

Experience:

  • I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a class representative for both Philosophy and Psychology- I’m more than comfortable communicating student feedback and community improvements to administration, and I'm always ready to listen to student ideas!
  • I’ve volunteered as a Welcome Week freshers helper and have noticed that student challenges often stem from a lack of awareness of the resources available on campus. Improving communication and visibility is central to my approach.
  • Additionally, I have experience as an International Student Mentor and Big Buddy, where I’ve served as a support system for multiple of my international student peers during their move to Glasgow. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to building inclusive spaces around campus!
