Asma Athar

Hello! My name is Asma Athar, and I am first-year engineering student. I am running for First Year Representative because I believe our first year should be a time where everyone feels included and are able to share their ideas.
Starting university is exciting, but it can also be challenging—new classes, new people, and a lot of change all at once. As a fellow first year, I know how important it is to have someone approachable and reliable to speak up for us. I want to make sure our concerns are taken seriously and that we have the chance to shape our own experience here. Whether it’s academic concerns, social events, or ways to improve communication, I’ll work hard to represent our year fairly and effectively.
If elected, I will:
- Organise events that bring people together, making it easier for us to socialise and build a strong community.
- Listen to your ideas and concerns and raise them with staff and the student council.
- Improve communication so first years can stay up to date and always know what’s happening.
Most of all, I’ll make sure our opinions are represented fairly and our first year is enjoyable, supportive, and memorable. With your vote, I’ll do my best to represent us all.
Caelyn Bailey

My name is Caelyn Bailey, and I want to be your voice.
As a fresher myself, I know university can feel overwhelming. That’s why I want to be the bridge between students and staff, to make sure your concerns are heard.
I’m a Molecular and Cellular Biology student with a strong background in the humanities. I bring years of leadership experience from serving on councils across science societies, art clubs, and sports teams. These roles taught me how to listen, organize, and act; skills I’ll bring to representing our year at the University of Glasgow.
I believe no problem is too small. From course structure to housing issues, I’ll raise your concerns promptly and keep you updated on outcomes. My goal is to ensure communication is always clear and transparent, so you know exactly what’s happening that affects us.
Beyond the formal stuff I’m approachable, organized, and genuinely enjoy connecting with people. I’m known to be a yapper, which really just means I’m not afraid to speak up and put myself out there to get things done.
Vote for me, and let’s make our first year a fantastic one, together.
Anjini Jagwani

Hi! My name is Anjini Jagwani (or Jina). I am currently pursuing a Joint Honours in Computing Science and Business & Management at the University of Glasgow, and I am running for First-year Student Representative. My goal is to create a fun and supportive atmosphere that fosters a sense of community. These are some of my Key Commitments:
Networking Opportunities: I will organize events aimed at connecting students with faculty and industry professionals, fostering valuable connections.
Social Events: Creating memorable social gatherings is important. I intend on hosting diverse events where everyone feels welcomed and can build friendships.
Feedback Mechanism: Your voice matters! I’ll establish a feedback system to ensure all ideas are heard and valued.
Access to Resources: I promise to advocate for better access to academic support, mental health services, and extracurricular information to help everyone succeed.
Inclusive Decision-Making: Every voice matters. It is important that everyone is involved in decisions affecting our community. By embracing diverse perspectives, we can ensure our initiatives reflect everyone’s needs.
Together, we can create an inclusive and engaging first-year experience! Thank you for your support!

Hi everyone! I'm Fajar Khurram and I would love to be your First Year Representative.
Personally, I value everyone's voices no matter how quiet, loud, small or big.
We all know the jump to university can be a rocky journey, but I know for a fact that as a team we can overcome any issues and problems that we face without any hassle.
As a social butterfly, I love bringing people together and appreciating the little moments in our lives. This would include listening to any views that all of you may have or just about being a first-year student and any improvements that can be implemented to help with our university journey.
From my own experience, I’ve noticed that instructions for assessments or communication from the university can sometimes be a little unclear or confusing. I’d like to introduce better ways of sharing and processing information, so no one feels left behind.
This role is fitting to me as in high school I carried out many leadership roles which included working with people, organising events and representing my school.
Together we can make this year a good first impression and make it a lasting one on our future.
