Jannat Afzal

Hi everyone! My name is Jannat and I am running to be your Undergraduate College Convenor for MVLS because you deserve strong and fair academic representation, ensuring your voices lead to real, visible change.
I will do this by:
- Clearer academic communication:
- Better‑spaced assessments, timely and constructive feedback, and consistent updates from Schools.
- Wellbeing & workload:
- Stronger mental‑health support and awareness and realistic workload expectations, especially during high‑pressure academic periods.
- More study spaces and better awareness of them:
- Advocating for increased, well‑equipped study areas across campus, and improving communication so students actually know what spaces exist, when they’re open, and how to access them.
- A more connected MVLS community:
- Building structured links between academic societies and Schools to create support networks within degree groups, encourage collaboration, and strengthen our academic community. Societies should play an active role in shaping representation, supporting students, and amplifying their voices.
As Convenor, I will organise groups, communicate transparently, and represent MVLS meetings with clarity and consistency.
Caelyn Bailey

My name is Caelyn and I am just wrapping up my first year at U of G. I served as the First Year Rep this year and I feel I finally have a grasp on the SRC. I would like to keep the ball rolling on the SRC with more responsibility as the Medical Veterinary and Life Sciences College Convenor. I know that this is typically an upperclassman’s role, but I know I can bring fresh ideas and new perspectives to the SRC. My goal is to be your College Convenor for the next three years; I want to grow with the position. Being a first-year rep, I already know how the SRC runs and I know what I can do for you next year. I hope to help make the MVLS run smoothly and efficiently, as well as keep all MVLS students informed. I will attend the Staff-Student Liaison Committees, bring new events to the MVLS, and keep organization within the School Representatives. I’m known to be a dive-in-head-first type of gal and I would love to tackle this position for the next few years with your support!
