Laurie Barr

Hi, I’m Laurie and I’m a third-year Politics with Quantitative Methods student.
If elected as your School Representative, I would aim to improve the communication between the school’s students and staff. I would ensure that regular meetings between Class Representatives, staff, and myself take place to create more opportunities for students’ voices to be heard. With this, I would also like to encourage more communication between you and Class Representatives by creating more accessible means for you to have your say, such as forums and in person meetings available all year round. This would be especially valuable for specific issues that may arise during the year, such as with marking or coursework feedback.
I have been the Vice-President of the Economic and Social History (ESH) Society since it was founded in September 2024, which has given me experience working with students, SPS society leaders, and the SPS Student Experience Team. I believe that my previous work and connections to the Student Experience Team will give me more confidence to share your feedback if I was elected. I would also like to make staff more aware of student-led societies to help advertise and work alongside them.
