Shahul Ayaan Khader Syed

Hello everyone!
I am Dr. Syed Shahul Ayaan, a physiotherapist and MSc Sports and Exercise Science & Medicine student. I am running to be your School Representative because I believe university life should be more than deadlines – it should be a place where every student feels heard, supported, and empowered to reach their potential.
My goal is to bring our School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health closer together so we can excel academically, personally, and socially.
· Academic Excellence & Support – I will advocate for accessible learning resources (recorded lectures, digital libraries), strengthen peer mentoring, and ensure timely, constructive feedback.
· Research & Careers – I aim to expand research placements with the NHS and health organizations, offer workshops on publishing and grant writing, and build alumni connections for career guidance.
· Wellbeing & Inclusion – I will promote mental health support, champion international and first-generation students, and encourage balance between academics and personal growth.
· Community & Representation – I intend to organize networking and cultural events, foster interdepartmental collaborations, and ensure open, transparent communication with all students.
With my experience in student leadership, healthcare, and community service, I bring compassion, collaboration, and commitment.

Erin Millen

Hi, I’m Erin! I’m a 4th year Human Biology & Physiology student, and I’m running to be your School Rep because I believe in empowering every voice, especially the quieter ones.
I want to create more opportunities for cross-year engagement, so students can connect, share experiences, and get a clearer picture of what’s ahead. Our school covers a wide range of interests, and I believe we need stronger career support such as guest lectures, industry insights, and advice from companies working directly in cardiovascular and metabolic health - especially for those unsure of their next steps.
I’ve previously worked with the SRC and was Chair of my high school’s pupil council, so I know how to represent students effectively and drive real change.
As a home student who travels in, I understand how hard it can be to build close connections. I was really shy when I started uni, but thanks to my amazing, close-knit class, I’ve come out of my shell and now I want to help others feel that same sense of belonging.
If elected, I’ll be approachable, proactive, and committed to turning your feedback into action. Every student deserves to feel heard, included, and inspired.
