Somaria Maharaj

As your current school representative, I want to continue advocating for a stronger, more supportive community. My focus this year is on evolving the connections we have built into lasting improvements. I plan to provide more dedicated support to our class reps, empowering them with the tools to create initiatives tailored to their specific cohorts.
A priority for me is ensuring that Student Voice is central to every conversation. I will advocate for standardizing assessment information across all modules to eliminate confusion and ensure every student receives clear, consistent guidance. Furthermore, I will advocate for the introduction of a Reading Week for Neuroscience students, aligning it with Psychology, and providing much-needed time for independent study and well-being.
I am committed to ensuring your feedback directly shapes our school’s decisions by bridging the gap between students and staff. Alongside this, I will work to improve inclusion by developing initiatives to address the challenges of each year group and by integrating employability into the course programs. Together, we can ensure the School of Psychology and Neuroscience remains a positive, inclusive, and future-ready environment for all of us.
