Misha Campello Gramelius

I’m Misha Campello Gramelius, a passionate postgraduate researcher at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, running to be your next PGR Convenor (Arts & Social Sciences). I’ve been dedicated to amplifying our voices and making sure our concerns are not only heard but acted upon. As a member of the UCU PGR Subcommittee, I’ve been campaigning for PGR rights—fighting for equal treatment on issues like maternity/paternity leave and VISA support.

If elected, I’ll work persistently to ensure all postgraduates feel supported, included, and heard.

My Priorities:

  1. Advocacy and Representation: I’ll ensure your concerns are voiced at University Council and College meetings, working closely with GUSRC leaders to reflect our needs.
  2. Transparency and Communication: You deserve clarity. I aim to provide regular updates on SRC decisions and initiatives so no one is left in the dark.
  3. Awareness of the Bigger Picture: Our challenges are part of larger local and national issues. I’ll keep us aligned with best practices while staying informed on broader movements.

I believe we can make real change, and I’m committed to turning that belief into action. Vote for me, and let’s build a stronger, more connected PGR community!

Freya Walker

Hello! My name is Freya, and I am currently in the second year of my PhD in Art History, specialising in eighteenth-century British visual satire. I’m running for Postgraduate Research (PGR) Convenor because I’m passionate about fostering a strong sense of community among researchers and enhancing the social aspects of postgraduate life.

Starting a research degree can feel overwhelming due to the lack of structured schedules, so my goal is to create more opportunities for social engagement and peer support. In my current roles as the Secretary of the PGR Society, committee member for the School of Culture and Creative Arts conference, and Graduate Teaching Assistant, I have gained valuable experience in organising events and building networks.

As your Postgraduate Research Convenor, I aim to:

  • Foster a supportive social environment for PGRs, with a focus on mental wellbeing.
  • Improve communication so all PGRs are informed about events and activities that benefit both their research and social lives.
  • Organise joint events that connect researchers across different schools, encouraging collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

I’m committed to making our research environment more inclusive, especially for new researchers and members of the international community. I’m excited about the opportunity to represent you and work together to create a more connected and supportive academic year.
