I’m Jing LIN, a postgraduate student from China studying at the School of Education, with an international background and a BSc in Psychology (2025/26). I’m having previously served as the Diversity and Equality Officer of my university’s Judo Club, I have developed inclusive, organisational, and communication skills that enable me to represent diverse voices effectively. If elected as Postgraduate College Convenor Social Sciences, I aim to:
• Foster a supportive and inclusive postgraduate community by collaborating with the Gilchrist Postgraduate Club and promoting cross. I will pay particular attention to the academic challenges faced by international students and, through my local placement experience, aim to build stronger understanding and connection between international and local students.
• Strengthen dialogue between postgraduates and staff by organising open forums and working groups that encourage more students to join discussions, ensuring their concerns are heard, acted upon, and that everyone feels included.
• Improve communication by providing regular, accessible updates on University decisions, SRC initiatives, and postgraduate opportunities.
I understand the challenges postgraduates face, from academic pressures to balancing research, work, and wellbeing. Together, we can make our postgraduate experience more connected, inclusive, and empowering.

Craig Rushesha

I am standing to champion your cause and ensure that the University takes meaningful action on the issues that matter most to postgraduate students today.
First, I will champion efforts to address the rising cost of living and strengthen student welfare. No student should have to choose between academic success and basic survival. I will advocate for better financial support and inclusive wellbeing initiatives that reflect the realities of postgraduate life.
Second, the University must do more to enhance graduate employability prospects. We need a tailored approach to career guidance, mentorship, and collaboration with employers to create clearer pathways from postgraduate study to meaningful work.
Finally, I believe the University must take an ethical stand on global issues, including the war on Palestine and divestment from the arms industry. Our University's reputation should reflect its moral leadership and its commitment to justice, inclusivity, and compassion.
In South Africa, I have led advocacy movements such as Fees Must Fall and the SA Palestine Solidarity Group. As your Postgraduate Convenor for CoSS, I will ensure every student's voice is not only heard but acted upon.
Sahil Singh

I am Sahil Singh, M.Sc. Human Rights and International Politics student, carrying within me the philosophical tradition of both east and west. As someone who has navigated the complexities of marginalised identity within elite academic spaces, I understand that true representation require not just presence but transformative action that challenges the very foundations of how Knowledge is created, shared and valued.
MY ENVISION
I believe education must expand human freedoms and agency, enabling students to pursue research that reflects their values and challenges the power structure.
MY AGENDA
- Champion inclusion and representation by advocating for marginalised voices and inclusive decision-making. I will advocate for stronger representation of all communities.
- Organising engaging social and academic events at the Gilchrist Postgraduate Club, fostering cross-disciplinary interaction and collaboration.
- Advocate for fairer funding, scholarships, and clearer postgraduate resources to ease financial pressures. Enhance employability support, with tailored workshops, mentorship, and career guidance.
- Strengthen mental health and wellbeing support. Ensure a safe, respectful environment.
- Promote curriculum diversity, encouraging global perspectives and decolonised approaches.
Vote Sahil Singh not for incremental reform, but for transformation towards human flourishing. Together, we don't just study social sciences - we embody them. We don't analyse the world, we change it.
Anthony Xiangyu Wang

My name is Anthony, a first-year MRes Economics student at University of Glasgow, and a graduate of University of Cambridge.
As Postgraduate Convenor for the College of Social Sciences, I will aim to support postgraduates in gaining fair opportunities to pursue research without financial hardship. Too many capable students are unable to continue into Master’s or PhD programmes due to funding constraints. I will work with the University and fellow representatives to enable students to focus on learning and innovation rather than financial stress, and to ease living-cost pressures by reducing the overall cost of education. This commitment will be reflected in practical action, including securing at least one fully funded Master’s scholarship per programme and full tuition coverage for all PhD students.
I will also advocate for course design that better reflects the evolving industry needs. This includes expanding optional professional training, such as AI-related mathematics and coding, to enhance employability and research capacity.
Finally, I believe postgraduate life should be grounded in mutual respect, well-being, and a genuine sense of belonging. I will work to make our community a place where every student, regardless of background or belief, can create their best memories at University of Glasgow.
