Qurat Ul Ain

Manifesto: S3 (Scholarships, Support & Stronger Voices)

Who I Am

Hi, I’m Qurat ul ain, a Commonwealth Scholar and a postgraduate in Science & Engineering. I know what it feels like to apply for opportunities, chase funding, and balance research stress. I want to make sure no postgraduate feels left behind — whether it’s about money, mentorship, or mental health.

My Focus: 3 Keys to Your Success

Funding & Scholarships
As a Commonwealth Scholar, I’ll help you find and access scholarships, bursaries, and travel grants. I’ll run workshops on applications and share tips to boost your chances.

Better Supervision & Support
I’ll push for supervisor training that improves communication and fairness. I’ll also launch a PG Peer Network — so you’ll always have someone to guide you.

Stronger Voice & Community
I’ll make postgraduate voices impossible to ignore — through PG Pulse updates, open forums, and cross-department socials to connect us beyond our labs.

Why Vote for Me?

  • I’ve walked the scholarship path — and I’ll show you how to do the same.
  • I believe in results, not rhetoric — practical solutions, not just policies.
  • I’ll represent you in every committee, making sure postgraduates in Science & Engineering get the support we deserve.

Akshita Mathur

I’m Akshita Mathur, an MSc Cybersecurity student running for PG Convenor for Science & Engineering. My vision is a community where we all feel seen, supported, and set up for success.

My first priority is connection. To combat the isolation many students feel—especially from overseas—I aim to create more inter-departmental research showcases and inclusive socials. We need a community where we can all connect as peers.

Second, your academic voice matters. You deserve clear, consistent feedback to grow. I will be committed to ensure a transparent, continuous feedback loop with faculty and TAs, so you’re never left guessing about your progress.

Third, let’s connect research to the real world. I want to introduce stronger bridges to industry by organising targeted events with alumni and leaders in relevant fields, clarifying your career path.

Finally, your wellbeing is non-negotiable. The pressure to publish and the long hours in the lab are immense. I will be a fierce advocate for accessible, stigma-free mental health support. No one should have to struggle alone.

Let's build a community that values our health as much as our research.

Your research is complex; your representation shouldn't be. #sudovoteAkshita

Lee Nyadenga

Your Postgraduate College Convenor (Science & Engineering): Building Bridges, Empowering Futures

Hi, I’m Lee Nyadenga, and I’m running for Postgraduate College Convenor because I truly believe that change doesn’t just happen, but we make it happen together.

As a postgraduate student studying Electronics & Electrical Engineering and Management, I’ve seen how both international and domestic students face similar challenges. These includes finding balance, building connections, and preparing for life after graduation. I want to help make our postgraduate experience smoother, more supportive, and more rewarding for everyone.

If elected, I’ll work to:

  1. Create real opportunities: Partner with departments to make short internships or project placements possible for one-year PGT students.
  2. Improve career access: Collaborate with the Careers Service to engage more UK companies that offer visa sponsorship and opening clearer employment paths for all.
  3. Build community: Promote inclusive academic, cultural, and social events to help everyone feel connected and supported.
  4. Listen and act: Regularly gather feedback and make sure your ideas and concerns are heard.

I care deeply about our experience and want to help create positive, lasting change.

Vote Lee — your voice, your advocate, your change.

Mei Yuhang

I’m Mei Yuhang, a Robotics & AI PGT student, a former LLM software engineer and an entrepreneur, now running for your Science & Engineering PG Convenor.

My first priority is tackling academic challenges. Leveraging my background, I will build an LLM-powered Learning Assistant for the College of Science&Engineering. This tool will help students with language barriers or difficult mathematical coursework, reducing academic anxiety.

Beyond academics, I will focus on your career. As a former software engineer and an entrepreneur, I know what employers want and will share my industry insight to help you build compelling CVs and connect with the best opportunities.

To be your voice, I will establish WhatsApp, WeChat, and anonymous email channels for feedback. I guarantee every issue will be sent to the correct university department for action. I will represent you at all college and university meetings. Vote for practical solutions and strong representation.
