About

Korfball is a mixed-gender sport originating in the Netherlands but popular across British universities. Come and join us for a fun, relaxed, social sporting experience!

Glasgow University Korfball Club is a new society, introducing GU students to the mixed-gender sport of korfball. We offer a welcoming and supportive environment for new players - no experience needed! Our beginners sessions are 6:30-7:30pm on Thursdays at Notre Dame High School, and your first two sessions are free :)

The rules of korfball are somewhere inbetween netball and basketball. There are 8 players on each team, everyone is involved in both attacking and defending over the course of a game, and the aim is to shoot the ball through the korf (basket) on top of a 3.5m-high post (a bit higher than netball or basketball). Players cannot run with the ball or shoot when within reach of a defender, so the key to the game is passing between teammates.

Almost everyone joining GUKC has never played korfball before, so our training sessions will start right from the beginning; focusing on basic skills, learning the rules of the game, and having fun! You can come along and try korfball for free, 6:30-7:30pm at Notre Dame High School, every Thursday. If you'd like someone to keep an eye out for you coming along for the first time, drop us an email at korfball@src.gla.ac.uk.

We are proud to be an LGBTQIA+ friendly club.
