About

Glasgow University's student run Big Band rehearse once a week, performing a wide range of music throughout the year with the aim of promoting jazz and big band sounds within the university.

What Do We Do?
Glasgow University Big Band is a student run jazz big band who play all styles of music, from classical big band sounds to funk, Latin to pop, film music to blues and soul. The band plays several gigs throughout the year, including University, public and private events, and rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings (usually with a sociable drink at the pub afterwards).

Who Can Join?
We accept saxophones, trumpets, trombones, guitars, bass, drums, piano and singers of all abilities and we never audition. We take a £20 sub for the academic year from all members (contact us for per-semester membership).

Our membership is usually open twice a year (September and January) but feel free to send us an email outside of these months as we are often looking for specific instruments to fill holes in our ranks.

Any one with conducting experience looking to work with a band is also welcome to contact us!
