About

Our aim is to raise awareness and tackle inequalities in global health.

At Students for Global Health Glasgow we aim to equip students with the knowledge and skills to make global health a local issue. We do this through 3 main ways:

– EDUCATE – We run an annual 5-week short course, stand-alone lectures, and film screenings on a wide variety of topics ranging from asylum seeker rights to  neglected tropical diseases. We are active at the regional and national level, having hosted the 2019 Spring General Assembly on the topic of One Health.

– ADVOCATE – We’re always looking for ways to involve students in advocating for change, in 2020 we have been involved in campaigns concerning climate change and protecting local asylum seeker rights.

– ACT – We support charities at all tiers of global health, from local food banks to small international charities such as ‘Health in Harmony’ to global organisations such as WHO Covid-19 response.

We also collaborate with other ideologically aligned societies in Glasgow such as Docs Not Cops.
