The University of Glasgow’s only dedicated musical theatre society, open to all.
The Cecilian Society is a committed and enthusiastic musical theatre society that has been producing successful shows for decades, and actually celebrated our 70th year as a society last year! We work towards two productions each year: our weekend show and the main show. Weekend show is an amazing introduction to the Society, and is cast and rehearsed in a single weekend just after Freshers' week. Our main show is a larger-scale production that takes place over a week, usually around the end of February or early March.
We pride ourselves on our open chorus policy, meaning anyone can be involved in our productions, no audition needed! Our most recent shows include Sunshine on Leith, Footloose, High School Musical, Crybaby and Pippin. If you don’t fancy performing, we have a talented tech team that work behind the scenes in our shows. Whether you love to sing, dance, build sets or design lights, there is something for everyone at Cecilians. We are a fun-loving society and we have many social events throughout the year, including ceilidhs, show trips, weekend away, and our infamous themed pub crawl.
