Okay this is the closest thing you'll ever get to a Presidential address out of me cause I don't believe in taking this too serious for my own sanity but here we go!
Today marks the University of Glasgow Minecraft Society's 2nd Birthday!!!
A little over 2 years ago I knocked on my flatmates door, asked them to be the Welfare Officer for a society I was making and now she curses me every day for it! (and also watches Minecraft YouTubers sometimes, imagine that!) Then on Saturday, 27th of November 2021, at 16:56 we officially opened its doors with an announcement in the :NinSoc: Nintendo Society that we were now a thing!
We've done like, a lot in that time, here are some things!
- Ran 3 holiday modded servers! (Vault Hunters twice because we all love Iskall)
- Built and released an interactive map of Robert Burns' farm for the Ellisland group.
- Ran a VR experience in the ARC building of said interactive map.
- Helped the NerdCollab in running the Ceilidh, Quiz and Massaoke (which I'll now take the opportunity to mention, were all led by members of this committee)
- Countless events from building contests to battle domes to Lifesteal UHCs and now Limited Life.
- Infiltrated and subsequently betrayed the Manchester Minecraft Society.
- So so many more things that you can see just by wandering around the SMP for awhile.
We've got a full 8 people on committee this year, we've done (mostly) regular socials on Wednesdays this semester, only missing a couple due to larger events happening. All to say I think we're pretty fucking awesome (I'm probably going to have to remove the swears when I post this to the SRC webpage and stuff lol)
Genuinely I have met so many of my friends through either this society or the wider NerdCollab here at UofG, and just a lot of awesome people in general. I hope you can all say you've enjoyed any time you spent on the server or at our events too!
Equally I hope I've done an at-least-halfway-decent job as your Minecraft Man (despite the general bloodlust in PvP), especially cause I don't plan on leaving any time soon no matter how many coup attempts you all threaten me with.
Now I may be biased, but, we are totally the best society around so who cares. (BlocSoc >>>) and with a little luck this place will be around for a lot longer, for now thought we'll just say, here's to another year!

VP Ghost, for keep the files and constitution in order (and also my braincells),
Treasurer Max for not embezzling our funds,
Social Manager Emily for making the coolest social posts,
Events Officer Morgan for planning great events and I suppose for... Brazil News:tm:,
Technical Officer for delving into the mess of Minecraft's code to keep our servers running,
and ***extra ***thanks to
Secretary Nan (for actually making sure people join the society) and Welfare Officer (for keeping us welfare'd) but also to them both for joining me in this endeavour and sticking with it until now! Hopefully neither of you regret responding to me on that random day 2 years ago.
Oh and thanks to me, I'm kinda awesome as well!
