Overview

The ManMUN conference is a 3-day Model United Nations conference at the University of Manchester. GlasMUN will be sending a group of delegates, as well as two chairs. As such we are able to offer a delegation discount as well as the opportunity for grouped accommodation.

Please fill in your delegate application on this website, and not MyMUN. We are handling delegate applications ourselves, so that we can provide you a group discount on delegate fees.

Committees

The following committees are available to debate in. We can't guarantee which committee you're assigned too, but you'll be asked for your preferences so you can be best sorted.

  • UK House of Commons (Chaired by our President Wiktoria Galas)
  • UN Security Council (Chaired by our Socials Officer Aaira Kamal)
  • Crisis Committee
  • Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC)
  • UN Commission on Status of Women (UNCSW)

Accommodation

The conference is 3 days long. We are recommending attendees stay in or near Manchester for at least 2 nights (night of the 6th and 7th). We are offering group accommodation options for those who want that. It is expected to cost less than £50/night, and will be at a hostel in central Manchester (rooms shared with other people from the society).

  • If you want to be in grouped accommodation, please select the Grouped Accommodation option when signing up
  • If you are handling your own accommodation, please select the Delegate Fee Only option when signing up.

Conference Fee

The only fee required to pay to attend the conference is the £25 delegate fee. N.b this is discounted for being part of a group delegation, and is paid through us on this website.

Transport Costs

Manchester is a 4 hour drive (216 mi), or a 3 hour train from Glasgow. A return ticket on the train should cost less than £70 if booked well in advance. You are expected to handle your own travel, including purchasing your own ticket.

Conference registration will start at 10:00. If you are traveling by train, there is a train that departs Glasgow Central at 06:29 on the Friday, that gets to Manchester Oxford Road just before 10:00.

In terms of return on Sunday evening, the conference will be over by 17:00, but there will be a post-conference social. The cheapest option is a train from Manchester Oxford road at 19:30, that gets to Glasgow Central at 23:08.

You can book tickets from this website here. Make sure to add your Railcard if you have one. We recommend you travel to Manchester Oxford Road (closer to the University) or Manchester Piccadilly (closer to city centre).

Communication

If you are not already on the WhatsApp group chat, please join here. This is where we will share all information, and communicate during the conference. There will also be a couple in-person meetings before the conference to sort out info. If you have any questions, you can ask here.
