AWS Glasgow is excited to invite you to the third event in Women in Surgery series on Wednesday, December 4! This exciting evening will take place at JMS LT 743 and the WMSB Clinical Skills Suite, featuring inspiring talks and an exclusive, hands-on workshop focused on ENT surgery—a specialty with only two weeks of exposure in the undergraduate curriculum, making this event truly unmissable!
Our speakers:
- Miss Thushitha Kunanandam
Consultant Paediatric ENT Surgeon at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. In her role since 2014, she specializes in complex airway surgeries, head and neck pathology (including vascular malformations), and tertiary and secondary care. Passionate about teaching, she serves as the Associate Postgraduate Dean for Surgical Simulation in NHS Scotland and the Undergraduate Simulation Lead at the University of Glasgow.
- Miss May Yaneza
Consultant Adult ENT Surgeon and Rhinologist at University Hospital Monklands. She is also the Undergraduate Lead for ENT at the University of Glasgow, with a strong focus on training the next generation of surgeons.
Following the talks, immerse yourself in a unique hands-on ENT workshop featuring 3D-printed models, where you'll practice skills like flexible nasoendoscopy, pinna haematoma management using compression sutures, and peritonsillar abscess drainage. The workshop will be led by the speakers and supported by surgical trainees and registrars, providing a great opportunity to develop practical skills. This will be a rare opportunity to develop practical skills not typically covered in undergraduate training, and we have very limited spaces, and tickets are expected to sell out quickly. To avoid disappointment, please secure your spot as soon as possible!
If you’re interested in surgery or just want to learn more about ENT, we’d love to have you join us. As always, everyone is welcome to attend xx
Yours,
AWS Glasgow xx
