Overview

Try out our one-off spooky seasonal game: Halloween Haunt! Race from cemetery to cemetery, completing challenges and solving clues to uncover the true culprit in the murder mystery before your opponents do.

The game will run from 10:00 – 17:00. There will then be a debrief social at a pub, with details announced closer to the time.

This game is open to anyone. No experience is required, the Jet Lag Society is welcome to all! A £1 Game Fee will be required from non Frequent Flyer Members. This is sold through the ticket that can be purchased above. Frequent Flyer Membership can be purchased from our SRC page.

This game will require a decent amount of walking, being outside for prolonged periods, and can occasionally become slightly stressful. While all are welcome to play, and we will try to accommodate all accessibility and capability needs, these need to be communicated clearly to us so that we can prepare.

How do you play the game?

A full rules document will be provided before the game, but to summarise: murder has befallen Glasgow, and you have been recruited to help solve the case! At the start of the game, four cemeteries will be randomly generated, and teams will use trains to race to reach one and complete its challenge. Each challenge will reward teams with some amount of this game’s currency: ectoplasm. Once a team has collected enough ectoplasm, they can purchase a clue, which will help them to solve the mystery. Every time a cemetery’s challenge is completed, a new cemetery will be generated. Teams will race to be the first to solve the mystery and win the game!

Logistics

The game will begin at 10:00 with a cutoff at 17:00. After the game there will be a debrief at a pub, with details to be announced closer to the time.

Players will be required to pay for their own transportation. For this game we highly recommend the Glasgow Roundabout Ticket (£7.70) as all transportation will involve trains in the area of this ticket.
Players will also need to manage their own food and drink throughout the day.

Accessibility

We strive to make all our games accessible to anyone who wishes to play. Please detail your needs or concerns (no matter how small), so that we can make adjustments to your game or at least be aware of anything in case of emergency. Feel free to email us, message our instagram, or join our discord if you have any further questions or concerns.

Halloween Haunt entails a lot of standing around or walking for extended periods of time, but there will also be regular periods of using transportation. The game is mostly out in the environment, therefore we are unable to guarantee constant access to seating, toilets etc. Nonetheless, adjustments can be made to games to make it easier for you to take part, such as mandated game breaks and no-running rules.

FAQ

Where do I get a ticket/sign up? Tickets can be booked at the top of this page. You must be logged in (non-students must create an account).

What is Jet Lag: The Game? Jet Lag: The Game is an online TV show that plays this style of game on a country (or even larger) scale! Think Hide & Seek across the UK, or Tag across Europe. If you've never heard of or watched the show, do not worry! The Jet Lag Society is open to everyone who wants to play our games.

Do I need to be a student of the University of Glasgow? These games are open to anybody. We particularly encourage students of other universities in the city or recent graduates to join us.

Can I bring friends? Of course! You can choose to be in the same team, or opposing. Just indicate who you would like to be in a team with when booking your ticket. Please note that large groups may have to be split over multiple teams or games.

What should I bring? We strongly recommend you bring a bottle of water and some snack. Please also pack for Scottish weather. Finally a battery pack is also recommended, although not a necessity.

Do I need to be there for the whole event? Ideally yes, but leaving early can be accommodated. If you need to, please make us aware as soon as possible, preferably at least a few days before the game, so that we can best arrange teams.

How will teams communicate? All game communication happens through our Discord. If you have not already joined, you will be contacted to do so. You will have chats to communicate with your teammates, your opponents. This will also be how you communicate with our Game Helpdesk who ensures safety/wellbeing and provides guidance/verification on the rules of the game.

How can I contact you? If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. You can email us at jetlag@src.gla.ac.uk message us on instagram @gujetlag, or join our Discord server here.
