Play in our home-brewed game, Subway Scramble. Go around the city's infamous Subway, completing challenges and fighting it out with other teams to claim the most stations. Excitingly, this game will also be our first collaboration of the term with the Edinburgh Uni Jet Lag Society.
The game will run from 10:00 – 16:00. There will be a designated pause for lunch during the middle of the day. Our Japanorama Screening Social is immediately after the game.
This game is open to anyone. No experience is required, the Jet Lag Society is welcome to all! There is no Game Fee required for this game. You still need to book a free ticket. This can be done at the top of the page.
This game involves a lot of walking (sometimes running), prolonged periods outside and can become quite stressful. While all are welcome to play, and we will try to accommodate all accessibility and capability needs, these need to be communicated clearly to us so we that we can prepare.

Tickets
This event is open to both members and non-members of the society. You do not need to be a student of the University to join. There is no game fee required for this game. But you still need to sign up. Book your ticket at the top of the page.
You must be logged into the SRC to book your place. Non-university students must create an account.
How do you play the game?
A full rules document will be provided before the game. But in brief, teams will roll a dice to decide how many stations they can move on the Subway. When they surface, they can complete that station’s challenge to claim it. Once a station is claimed it’s on cooldown for 15 minutes, after which it is vulnerable to being claimed by another team. Teams can complete another challenge to lock a station. This prevents other teams from claiming it. The winner at the end of the day is the team with the most amount of stations claimed.
Logistics
The game will begin at 10:00 with a cutoff at 16:00. Teams will head off from Buchanan Street Subway. After the game, we will be heading to the Silverburn cinema for the official screening of the Japanorama Finale. Anyone is welcome, even if you didn’t play in the game. You will need your own ticket to the cinema screening. Find out more information here.

We strive to make all our games accessible to anyone who wishes to play. Please detail your needs or concerns (no matter how small), so that we can make adjustments to your game or at least be aware of anything in case of emergency. Subway Scramble entails a lot of standing around or walking for extended periods of time. The game is out in the environment, therefore we are unable to guarantee access to seating, toilets etc. Nonetheless adjustments can be made to games to make it easier for you such as mandated game breaks or enforcing a no-running rule.
As Subway Scramble completely depends on the Subway, there are no practical adjustments that can be made for players who require step free access unfortunately.

Where do I get a ticket/sign up? Tickets can be booked at the top of this page. You must be logged in (non-students must create an account).
What is Jet Lag: The Game? Jet Lag: The Game is an online TV show that plays this style of game on a country (or even larger) scale! Think Hide & Seek across the UK, or Tag across Europe. If you've never heard of or watched the show, do not worry! The Jet Lag Society is open to everyone who wants to play our games.
Do I need to be a student of the University of Glasgow? These games are open to anybody. We particularly encourage students of other universities in the city or recent graduates to join us.
Can I bring friends? Of course! You can choose to be in the same team, or opposing. Just indicate who you would like to be in a team with when booking your ticket. Please note that large groups may have to be split over multiple teams or games.
What should I bring? We strongly recommend you bring a bottle of water and some snack. Please also pack for Scottish weather. Finally a battery pack is also recommended, although not a necessity.
Do I need to be there for the whole event? Ideally yes, but leaving early can be accommodated. If you need to, please make us aware as soon as possible, preferably at least a few days before the game, so that we can best arrange teams.
How will teams communicate? All game communication happens through our Discord. If you have not already joined, you will be contacted to do so. You will have chats to communicate with your teammates, your opponents. This will also be how you communicate with our Game Helpdesk who ensures safety/wellbeing and provides guidance/verification on the rules of the game.
