Overview

Our production of Bellini's 'La Sonnambula' promises to be a delight for both opera lovers and for those who have never even spared a thought for opera! It is filled with fun chorus movements and poignant solos, and we intend to fully bring out its latent humour.

The opera tracks a fluctuating love story in an isolated mountain community, with the complication that the main character is secretly a somnambulist (A sleepwalker)!

This production spans three nights. There are two performances in the Scottish Opera building at 39 Elmbank Crescent on the 21st and 23rd of May, and a final performance in the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel on the 25th of May. Doors will open at 7pm and all performances will begin at 7:30pm. The running time for the show is 1hr 45mins, including an interval.

Please note that there are some accessibility issues with the Scottish Opera building, and it is not wheelchair friendly. We encourage any person with a physical disability to attend the Saturday night performance on the 25th of May in the University Chapel, which is fully accessible.

Student tickets are £5, Concession tickets are £8, and full price tickets are £10. We will also accept cash on entry, but book now to avoid disappointment! All opera society performances are sung in English, so you can fully enjoy the dramatic power of the operatic plots!
