UofG Black History Month Launch | BHM 2026

Kick off Black History Month at the University of Glasgow with a vibrant celebration of African and Caribbean culture and honour our student communities!

Join the Students' Representative Council (SRC) at the Hunterian Museum (University Ave, Glasgow G12 8QQ) for an unforgettable evening filled with:

• Free tasters of delicious African and Caribbean cuisine:
  • Indulge in mouthwatering dishes from Calabash African Bar and Restaurant, serving up exciting freshly made dishes from all over Africa, and savour the flavours of the Caribbean from CoCo Bana Afro Caribbean Restaurant, a family-run restaurant passionate about authentic Afro-Caribbean cuisine.
  • (Allergen information will be provided with the food but we cannot guarantee there will be no instance of cross contamination.)
• Complimentary welcome drinks and snacks: Enjoy a selection of non-alcoholic beverages, including Ginger Beer, assorted Juices and Lemonade.
• Captivating DJ set: Groove to the infectious rhythms of Africa and the Caribbean with DJ Nero, whose eclectic sets blend genres like Bouyon, Cadence-lypso, Jazz, Neo-Soul, Rock, and Rap – (Check out Nero's Dutchie show on Subcity Radio).
• Connect with ACS Student Community: Engage with student members of the African Caribbean Society, hear their stories and build connections with their society. 
• Curating Discomfort Tours: Explore The Hunterian’s Curating Discomfort intervention, which examines colonial histories, representation and power within the museum’s collections.

• This event is £3 and open to all University of Glasgow students.
• Tickets are required for entry and are on sale now via our App and website.
