Overview

Join us for a celebration of creativity and heritage during Chinese Culture Week, hosted by the Chinese Students and Scholars Association and supported by the Gilchrist Postgraduate Club! Whether you’re an art lover or are simply curious, these sessions offer a fun and interactive way to connect with Chinese tradition and creativity. No experience needed!

Day One activities focus on the rich artistry of Chinese culture with two immersive workshops:

  • Peking Opera Face Painting Workshop
Step into the vibrant world of Peking Opera by learning the meanings behind its striking facial patterns and colours. Try your hand at painting your own mask and discover how this ancient art form combines performance, symbolism, and beauty.

  • Chinese Calligraphy Experience
Explore the elegance of Chinese characters through brush and ink. You’ll learn basic brushstrokes and experience the calm and focus of this timeless art.
