Kick off Black History Month at the University of Glasgow with a vibrant celebration of African and Caribbean culture!
Join the Students' Representative Council at the Hunterian Museum (University Ave, Glasgow G12 8QQ) on Friday, October 3rd, from 7–9pm for an unforgettable evening filled with:
- Free tasters of delicious African and Caribbean cuisine:
- Indulge in mouthwatering dishes from Calabash African Bar and Restaurant, serving up exciting freshly made dishes from all over Africa, and savour the flavours of the Caribbean from CoCo Bana Afro Caribbean Restaurant, a family-run restaurant passionate about authentic Afro-Caribbean cuisine.
- (Allergen information will be provided with the food but we cannot guarantee there will be no instance of cross contamination.)
- Complimentary welcome drinks: Enjoy a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including Prosecco, Ginger Beer, assorted Juices, and Lemonade.
- Captivating DJ set: Groove to the infectious rhythms of Africa and the Caribbean with DJ Nero, whose eclectic sets blend genres like Bouyon, Cadence-lypso, Jazz, Neo-Soul, Rock, and Rap – (Check out Nero's Dutchie show on Subcity Radio).
- Powerful poetry readings: Be moved by insightful poetry from members of the African Caribbean Society.
