Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR)

What is HEAR?

Some of the volunteering work you do is eligible for recognition on your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).  Your HEAR is an extended form of the traditional degree transcript, which you will receive upon graduating.  It serves as a formal means for the University to recognise your academic work as well as any extracurricular activities you have undertaken during your time as a student.  This helps demonstrate your personal and professional development, as well as the graduate skills you have obtained throughout your studies, to prospective employers.

Officially recognised volunteering roles and extracurricular activities include:

  • GUSRC Council Member

  • GUSRC Student Media Manager/Editor (Glasgow University Magazine, Glasgow Guardian, Glasgow University Student Television, Subcity Radio)

  • GUSRC Welcome Week Helper

  • GUSRC Ambassador

  • Periodic Subject Reviewer

  • GUSRC Club or Society Office Bearer (President, Secretary, Treasurer, or Vice President)

  • Achievement of a UofG Volunteering Award

We can only assist with HEAR enquiries for the GUSRC-affiliated projects listed above.  Internships, scholarships, and other academic related placements (incl. Class Representatives) are administered within your school, so please liaise with them directly.

How to apply for HEAR recognition

If you have a recognised club or society office bearer, or are an eligible volunteer, we will contact you by email and ask you to complete a HEAR Application.  Clubs and Societies will be emailed a copy of the Application directly to their club registered email address, and volunteers will be contacted via email by SRC Volunteering.

In relation to GUSRC-affiliated clubs and societies, please note:

  • The eligible positions for HEAR recognition are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Only four individuals per club or society can receive HEAR recognition.

  • Clubs and Societies must nominate four members for HEAR recognition when they affiliate.

If you are affiliated with the QMU, GUSA or GUU, you will be contacted by them directly.  If you are a Class Representative, your individual school will be in touch with you to confirm you have fulfilled all the requirements needed to have the position recognised on your transcript.
