The Polar Bear Club is Glasgow Uni’s wild swimming society – we cater for all swimming abilities, providing everything from open water training sessions to trips to some pretty waterfalls.

Whether you’re a seasoned ice swimmer or never been in the water outside before, we are excited to swim with you!

Our society’s focus is to help everyone enjoy the benefits of wild swimming – the positive effects on your mental health and stress levels are well documented, and it is a brilliant way to destress and give yourself a break, especially in the fast, intense environment of uni. We are running trips across Scotland, visiting lochs, beaches and waterfalls – we are a perfect way to help you discover more of this beautiful country whilst being in good company.

We aim to provide an education around wild swimming, improve your swimming skills, help provide alternate ways of coping with stress and also preserve our environment by completing beach cleans.

Hot water bottles, socks and hats are useful, wetsuits are optional!

Sign up to our mailing list and join our facebook group, where we will be sharing all information about trips, wild swimming research and other updates, via https://www.facebook.com/groups/258458189329436/
