Glasgow University Labour Club

Educate, Agitate, Organise

Founded in 1946, the Glasgow University Labour Club (GULC) is one of the oldest Labour Societies in the United Kingdom. We’re a society with some serious history - our past chairs include the first First Minister Donald Dewar and former leader of the Labour Party John Smith.

GULC was founded on solid Labour values of trade unionism and socialism and we still fight for a fairer society today. We’re a club for all members and supporters of Labour across the United Kingdom who are students at Glasgow University and all are welcome.

We aim to make Labour politics at Glasgow University an accessible and welcoming environment for all who want to get involved. We are active and offer a mix of sober and non-sober socials on at least a bi-weekly basis! We also host speaking events with Labour figures from all over the UK. Past speakers have been Jeremy Corbyn MP, Paul Sweeney MSP, Dawn Butler MP, and many more!

We also get involved in campaigning for Labour in any way we can and will support you getting involved too by holding discussions and workshops on political issues and campaigning skills.

If you have any questions about the society or concerns over whether or not it is accessible to you, please reach out to GULC on any of our contact points to get in touch.
