This society is focused upon the production of fictional/non-fictional short films and documentaries. Depending on numbers, the main goal is to make two films per semester. The society itself will be divided into three areas: pre-production and development, production, and post-production with distribution.
Every member of the society will be involved in each of the parts, and different roles will be shared across the projects that we undertake. These roles include directing, producing, cinematography, sound editing, video editing, make-up, and costume design, set design, amongst many other elements of film production.
Each member will have the opportunity to try out each position, with popular choices being given two places (such as two directors per film). This is to encourage more people to get into filmmaking, and also to bring like-minded filmmakers together in order to collaborate. Many great film clubs across different Universities have yielded great results and produced some of the UK’s finest filmmakers.
At the end of each semester, a Film Premiere night will be held – this will showcase the work done by the society. Tickets will have to be purchased, with all profits being donated to charity.
