Are you looking to leave University with more than a degree?

Student Volunteering Week 2026 is coming soon and is designed to connect you with the wonderful volunteering opportunities we have available across Glasgow.
The week is a celebration of the commitment of our student volunteers and recognising the positive impact their work has on the community around them, not just on campus but in the wider area as well. Volunteering is about giving something back, and we want this week to be our way of giving back to you and highlighting your achievements.
This year, Student Volunteering Week is being celebrated between the 16th and 20th of February, and we are offering different activities and events on each day, corresponding with daily themes of volunteering.

Micro Monday:
On Monday 16th February, we will be promoting micro-opportunities, for you to get involved in student volunteering, both on and off campus. We will also be hosting a stall on the ground floor of the JMS between 12pm and 3pm, so come along, grab a goodie bag, and find out how you can make even the slightest change to your community, all through SRC Volunteering.
Transferable Skills Tuesday:
On Tuesday 17th February we are highlighting how volunteering can help you grow and build valuable skills to take into the workplace. We will be hosting a Clubs and Socs Roundtable, with a special focus on volunteering. Learn how to register as a volunteer and log your club activities, receive HEAR recognition as an office bearer, and discover other opportunities for volunteering reward & recognition!

Wellbeing Wednesday:
On Wednesday 18th February, our community partners at It Gets Better UK, will be hosting an LGBTQ+ Zine-Making & Storytelling Workshop to celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month. You’re invited to create and share art and writing that reflects your lived experience and/or your support for the LGBTQ+ community.
We will also be hosting a Wellbeing Skills for Student Leaders workshop for students in volunteer leadership roles, designed to equip you with the tools, confidence, and knowledge to support your peers while also looking after your own wellbeing.

Thankful Thursday:
On Thursday 19th February, we will be hosting a special Craft & Connect session, dedicated to writing warm, welcoming letters for Refuweegee, a local charity that supports newly arrived refugees and people seeking asylum in Glasgow. This event offers a calm and creative space where you can craft thoughtful messages and help ensure that everyone arriving in our community feels welcomed. Postcards will be provided, or you can design your own card.
We will also be taking a moment to say thank you to our amazing volunteers and share their stories. We will be posting videos throughout the day, highlighting their impact on the university community and beyond. Follow us on all our social media channels (@glasgowunisrc) to see what our volunteers and partners have to say!

Friendly Friday:
Friday 20th February marks the final day of Student Volunteering Week across the UofG Campus. This day we will focus on sharing opportunities in the wider Glasgow Community. Opportunities like phone befriending, community gardening and working with local schools are all available through SRC volunteering and allow you to take a break from your studies and help in your local area.
