Dead Poets Society Newsletter 2

Hello and welcome to the second Dead Poets newsletter! These updates on our events and book clubs are also emailed to our members; join on the SRC website to avoid missing any important news.

Our next event will be a Museum Trip to Kelvingrove with prizes for the winners of our Museum Bingo! The committee have created a bingo card that will lead attendees around the iconic museum, with Waterstones vouchers given to the winner and runner-up. We will meet in the Centre Hall of Kelvingrove Museum at 14:00 on Tuesday 25th November.

Our (postponed) October Book Club discussion took place on November 6th and focused on ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’ by Oscar Wilde. Further recommendations from the Book Club include the play ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ (also by Wilde) and the novel ‘The Beautiful and Damned’ (by F Scott Fitzgerald). The runner-up picks from the Instagram poll for October (based on a Halloween theme) were ‘Dracula’ by Bram Stoker, ‘Frankenstein’ by Mary Shelley, and ‘Gone Girl’ by Caroline Flynn.

As previously announced, the November Book Club will discuss ‘Fun Home’ by Alison Bechdel, chosen from a selection of graphic novels. The meet will take place at 18:00 on Thursday 27th November in JMS 429.
