Exhibition statement :

Pathways and Bonds displays a series of photographs taken by members of the Glasgow University Photography Society. Centred on an open interpretation of the words pathway (a route, a process, a way of moving forward) and bond (a connection that links, unites, or holds together), this exhibition explores the relationships that emerge between images, artists, and perspectives. From snippets of Glaswegian life to mementos of time spent abroad and reminders of home, this exhibition is designed to reveal the often-invisible connections and stories between photographers.

This exhibition features the work of fifteen student photographers, brought together through a shared passion for photography and the connections formed between them. Though their approaches and subjects vary, the exhibition focuses on what links their work. The images are arranged in pairs based on shared elements, revealing subtle connections and contrasts. In doing so, it creates a quiet dialogue between the photographs, highlighting both their differences and common ground. Some links are more obvious than others, leaving space for viewers to form their own narratives and contribute to the exhibition.

Ultimately, the exhibition reflects on the importance of connection and the ways that our own lives can intertwine. We hope to see you there!

This event is supported by grant funding from the Students’ Representative Council, which aims to support and elevate student-led initiatives that create more inclusive, accessible, and engaging opportunities for the wider student community.
