Tickets will be available at 6pm, Thursday 19th February and will cost £27.50.
This event will run from 6:00am Friday 27th February - 23:30pm Sunday 1st March.
Travel
We plan to meet at Buchanan Bus Station at 6am to catch the 6:15am Ember bus to Inverness. From there we'll take the 10:56am train to Achnashellach arriving at 12:40pm. It is then a 4-5hr (17km) hike from the train station to Kinlochewe village hall where we will be staying.
We plan to leave the same way: leaving Kinlochewe by 9:30am on Sunday, hiking to Achnashellach to explore/rest, then catch the 16:04pm train to Inverness, and the 20:01pm Ember bus back to Glasgow. We would arrive in Glasgow by 23:30pm.
The approximate cost for this transit option is £61.50 without any concessions (YoungScot, Railcard etc.).
Accommodation and Kit
As with our other trips, you will need to bring appropriate hiking gear and a sleeping bag / equivalent as we will be sleeping in a village hall. Unlike our other trips you must be able to carry your full bag while hiking. There is no direct bus/train etc. to Kinlochewe so hiking is the only way in and out for us, please bear this in mind when packing.
There is a grocery shop in Kinlochewe and the village hall has a small kitchen so you will be able to make meals. There are full toilet facilities but no showers.
Hiking
As mentioned, the 'walks' on Friday and Sunday will be to Kinlochewe. There is plenty of time to explore Kinlochewe and Achneshellach on Friday and Sunday respectively. On Saturday we plan to hike in Beinn Eighe National Nature reserve. All hikes are weather dependant, we have lower elevation routes planned in the event of heavy snow/rain etc. Hikes will likely involve higher elevation, distance and more challenging terrain (including potentially hiking off trail). This trip is for experienced hikers.
There are also several opportunities for wildswimming.
