Overview

Dear all,

Today, I am writing to you in order to let you know of an exciting event that we are organising on the 18th of March.

The event will consist of a Conference style Research Seminar for students and staff of the University of Glasgow. The idea behind it is that we want to showcase the great variety of very interesting research happening, at all levels, in our University. The focus of the event will be humanities and arts students but we are more than happy to welcome anyone who would like to participate. All students – both undergrad and postgrad – and staff are welcome to present.

The research can be both fruit of your work on your dissertation, it can also be the product of an assignment or be a piece of original research. We also welcome postgrad students and staff that are working on a piece of research for an article or chapter to come by and present the fascinating topics they are working on.

We are aiming to host 15-20 minutes presentation with some time to answer questions and thoughts and we also encourage people to come even if they have nothing that they wish to present as the idea is to foster a climate of sharing of ideas and prospectives as well as to create a space for forging personal and academic connections between students and staff from different departments.

In order to entice this climate even more we are also going to be hosting a small reception after the event where people will be able to talk and mingle.

If this event sounds like something you’d like to attend please fill the form below (please do so both if you would like to present and if you would simply like to attend) so that we might have an idea of participants and of the people that are interested in it.

Since it is our first time hosting this time of event we are unsure of just how many people will be coming and how many will wish to present, so the location is yet to be determined and we also are open to spread the event across a couple of days if the amount of presenters will be too large to fit in an afternoon/evening.

We hope to see many of you there and to hear about all of your very interesting research projects,

All the best,

Giovanni and the TRS Community

P.S. if you would like to present but are not sure about your presentation topic you should be able to sign up as a presenter and leave the description session empty and edit it later. That way we will know how many people we can expect but you will still have time to finetune your presentation topic.
