This is notice that an EGM (extraordinary general meeting) will be taking place on Tuesday the 27th of January at 6pm.
This EGM will be in a hybrid format, with JMS 530 being used, alongside an online teams call. Voting shall take place via mentimeter
1. We will be voting to introduce any ammendments to our constitution. If you wish to submit a proposal to change an element of the constitution then you can email disabledstudents@src.gla.ac.uk . We will then anonymously put this suggestion forward to the members on the night who shall vote on whether to introduce it or not.
The constitution can be found here https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:EU:c7f6b7c4-7c9d-482b-8f44-90ce08f553aa
2. We will be electing a new Welfare officer and visual impairment officer.
The welfare officer's job is to support members and signpost them to relevant support resources and services (you are not expected to provide professional mental health support, just help support and signpost). To be a welfare officer we would appreciate if you are currently in the UK for this semester, and you have some experience in either a welfare type role, or are happy to take on SRC welfare training. This welfare officer shall only serve until the AGM to be announced for late March, in which all roles will go up for election.
The visual impairment officer will lead visual impairment meetups with a small group, help guide event planning accessibility, and help check alt-text is suitable. The visual impairment officer shall only serve until the AGM in March.
If you wish to run for welfare officer please email the above email, or message a member of the executive team in the whatsapp community and provide a short manifesto that can be read on the night for why you want to run and why people should vote for you. You may also run on the night if you wish.
Per the constitution point (9.7), you are not eligible to run for a role if you have had a formal complaint upheld and formal action taken. This means you have had a suspension issued or removal from the society (this does not apply if you have simply been asked to refrain from a behaviour once)
If you have any concerns or queries do not hesitate to reach out!
