Overview

Join the International Film Society and the Students’ Representative Council for an evening of cinema, letter-writing, and global bites in support of Refuweegee on Student Refugee Day.

Refuweegee is a community-led charity that gives people a way to welcome and embrace those newest to arrive. They strive to ensure that people who have been forced to flee their homes arrive in Scotland to a warm welcome and some of the things that will help them to feel more at home here.

💌 Every welcome pack that Refuweegee passes on contains a 'Letter fae a Local'. Drop in to write a welcome letter to someone newly arrived in Glasgow. These letters will be shared through the charity as part of their mission to ensure every newcomer feels seen, valued, and welcomed.

🎥 We’ll be screening a thought-provoking and award-winning international film that explores the experiences of two Senegalese teenagers living in Dakar who yearn for a different future in Europe.

🌍 Enjoy tea, coffee, and a selection of West African snacks.
