Join local charity, Community InfoSource (CIS), for an important and insightful workshop exploring Gender-Based Violence (GBV), with a specific focus on Honour-Based Violence (HBV).
Led by CIS staff with lived experience and multilingual community backgrounds, this session aims to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, and support participants to feel more confident in recognising and responding to signs of abuse.
What You’ll Learn
Over the course of this 1hr interactive workshop, you will:
- Improve your understanding of GBV and its main forms (physical, psychological, sexual, emotional, social, economic)
- Be more aware of the prevalence of GBV locally and within the UK
- Understand why some forms of violence are hidden or underreported
- Recognise Honour-Based Violence as a specific form of GBV, rooted in ideas of family or community “honour”
- Gain insight into the impact of GBV on individuals, families, and communities
- Learn why culturally sensitive early intervention and support are essential
Speak with CIS & Explore Volunteering Opportunities
After the session, you will have the opportunity to chat informally with Community InfoSource staff, ask questions, and find out how you can support the charity’s wider work through volunteering.
